  Godparents were: Johann Jacob Herberth, schoolmaster in Heimkirchen; Jacob Stetzenbach from the Steinmuhl in Niederkirchen; Catharina Elisabetha Hohenberger from Niederkirchen. Records discovered by Dr. Igor Pleve, Saratov State University, Saratov, Russia indicate that Johann Jacob Foos was of the Lutheran Faith, and was a farmer from the Pfalz, Germany (subsequent research reveals that the village he came from was Heimkirchen, Pfalz, Germany). His family arrived at Kronstadt (Oranienbam), Russia (not far from St. Petersburg) on August 8, 1766 by the ship "Mercury" (confirmed by the J. Kulberg "Arrival" record lists of 1766). He and his wife died enroute to Dietel, Samara Province, Russia. Their children arrived at Dietel July 1, 1767.
