Alexander Comstock born in 1820 in Hocking county, Ohio where he was married to Caroline Berger in 1855, moved to Johnson county Iowa where he resided until 1878, when he removed to Kansas locating on a homestead in White Rock twp. Republic county where he resided up to the time of his death, Nov. 9th. 1899. He leaves a wife and nine children who survive him, two sons and seven daughters.

The latter part of September he was striken with Pneumonia, from which he never recovered. The Sunday before Mr. Comstock's death was the 49th anniversary of his marriage.

For over sixty years a member of the United Brethren church, he bore the suffering of his last illness with Christian patience and fortitude, being in full control of his mental faculties to the last and fully realizing that he was on his dying bed; willing and prepared to cross the dark River. Loving hands ministered to his last wants, and his many friends laid him away to rest.

      Note to NOTE:

IF Mr. Comstock died on the Sunday before the 49th anniversary of his marriage, then he had to have married in 1850, as opposed to the reported 1855. As of 12/2017, this author has neither affirmed nor denied the Scandia Journal entry of November 17, 1899
